What is the 7-Shot Sequence, you ask?
The 7-Shot Sequence is a powerful tool to storyboard your video, ensuring every shot counts. It includes one establishing shot to set the scene, two wide or medium shots to show the action, two close-up shots to capture details, one abstract shot to add intrigue, and one unexpected shot to surprise your audience. Perfect for every storyteller!
1
Establishing Shot
This shot sets the scene and location, giving your sequence context. Ask yourself, “Where am I?”
2
Wide/Medium Shots
Two wide or medium shots to show the action, it’s important to get a sense of what’s happening in the sequence you’re shooting. PRO TIP: Hold your shots for at least 10 seconds to make sure your clip is solid.
2
Close-Up Shots
1
Abstract Shot
One abstract shot to add intrigue and spice up your sequence. This can also be used as a transition clip from one scene to the next. Try using a macro shot, a whip pan, or something more dreamy and out of focus.
1
Unexpected Shot
One unexpected shot to surprise your audience and show off your creativity. You should already have everything else you need, so don’t make this shot obvious. Think about a POV shot, a shot from inside an object, or even through something like a mirror or glass.
